To the man who taught me to love and respect all animals, but especially those endearing and wonderful creatures known as Boxers. I know that you are spending your days and nights surrounded by every one of the Boxers we shared our lives and love with. I can see them sitting at your feet and looking up at you with total adoration, the way they always did. And I can see the happiness in your eyes, as you smile down upon them. God Bless and keep you all, until we are united again. I love you and miss you dad~!! |

We traveled there as a family many times (although
my father would always manage to extend his trip by a month or two). We'd
rent a house on the ocean. In the evenings, when the sun would
start to slide into the ocean, he would call his family out on the deck and
we'd all watch the sunset and wait for the "green flash." My father
swore that the instant the sun hit the water, if you didn't blink, you could
see a green flash. So we'd all sit outside and endlessly tease my father
about the green flash that we never saw. After about the fourth night
of this, I began to think that the green flash did not exist. What
did exist was a family, joining together after a busy day, talking, laughing,
and sharing a beautiful sunset.
I will forever remember him in Hawaii -- surrounded by his family -- smiling and laughing -- and looking for that green flash. *g* |
